VICSEG New Futures delivers community learning programs designed to support migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers to build confidence, develop practical skills, and take part in education and community life.
Our programs respond to the diverse needs of the community we serve and meet people where they are at — whether that's developing English language skills, building financial literacy, learning how to stay safe online, or navigating the challenges that come with settling into a new country. Whatever the starting point, the goal of our community learning programs is the same: to open up pathways and help people move forward.
VICSEG delivers a Financial Wellbeing Program to groups of young women across the western and northern suburbs of Melbourne each year.
Funded by the Department of Social Services (DSS), the six-month program equips young women with practical skills to help manage money and shares deeper knowledge on how gender can impact a woman’s capacity to earn and save across the lifespan.

Through the Communities for Children (CfC) Hume Program, VICSEG New Futures is partnering with Uniting Vic.Tas and La Trobe University to deliver a new program in Adolescent and Family Violence / (Cyber)bullying prevention in the Hume community. The primary targets of this project are pre-adolescent children in primary school, 10 -12 years old, as well as their parents and teachers. In exploring the experiences and existing knowledge of young people and their families, the project will support the development of online resources made available to the community via the e-Safety Commission.
The Learn English program is designed to support adult learners in developing and improving their basic English language skills. Participants have the opportunity to build their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and communication skills, while also strengthening their numeracy abilities.

The 22471VIC Course in Initial General Education for Adults helps learners with low literacy and numeracy skills build confidence, re-engage with learning and the community, and find a pathway into study and employment.
The 22471VIC Course in Initial General Education for Adults provides a pathway into the 22472VIC Certificate I in General Education for Adults for those learners who wish to further develop their literacy and numeracy skills to support engagement with employment, community, learning and personal domains. As a proud Learn Local provider, we deliver the Learning Together program in the Hume City Council area, funded by the Victorian Government’s Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board. The program supports newly arrived families with children under five to build confidence and develop basic conversational English skills in a welcoming and supportive environment.
During four-hour sessions, mothers participate in guided English conversation with a facilitator while their children are cared for by a qualified early childhood worker in an adjacent space. The program also includes shared story time and sing-alongs, allowing mothers to practise their English with their children while strengthening confidence in leaving them in care and supporting smoother transitions to kindergarten and school. Learn Local courses are pre-accredited, free for eligible adult Victorians, and offer flexible learning across areas such as literacy, numeracy, digital skills, employability, and industry preparation.
