New Futures Training (NFT) hosted an energetic Industry Review class for our latest round of graduating health course students in Coburg last week!
Industry Review classes are a unique part of NFT’s training strategy in aged care, health, and disability courses.
These workshops, which occur after students have completed their theoretical studies, practical simulations and job placements, mark the final step in their studies as they prepare to take their newfound skills and qualifications into the job market.
Firstly, the classes are a timely opportunity to check that all training documents are in order as NFT prepares to award students their certificates.
Secondly, they provide a fantastic opportunity for everyone to learn from each other! Our students, who will have been scattered far and wide on their placement adventures, get to come together once more to share and learn from each other’s workplace experiences. Successes are celebrated and challenges discussed openly in search of new knowledge and professional growth. Importantly, the classes are also a valuable educational experience for the whole team at NFT who, on hearing the stories of our students, are able to further refine our training delivery to the benefit of future student cohorts.
Finally, we use the Industry Review workshops as an opportunity to connect our graduating students with real world employers who share the benefits of their employment insights and expertise. This experience raises the confidence and employability skills of our students who get to meet with employers face-to-face and gain first-hand insights into employers are looking for.
The event in Coburg last week attracted 30 completing students from our CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing & Disability) and HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance. We were thrilled to be joined by representatives from two industry supporters! Robyn and Gian addressed our students on behalf of Just for U (JFU) Care, who provide high quality and compassionate in-home care services in Melbourne and surrounding regional centres. Dina spoke on behalf of Ethical Hire who connect care professionals with meaningful opportunities across Victoria. A huge thanks to Robyn, Gian, and Dina for so generously sharing your time and talents with all of us!
Our group of completing students, many of whom have already gained employment, and now in a prime position to make their mark providing personal care and support to vulnerable members of our community.
New Futures Training looks forward to extending the Industry Review class strategy to our Early Childhood Education and Care courses early this year!
