With 1.4 million new workers needed in Victoria by 2034, a new parliamentary inquiry is investigating student pathways to the state’s most in-demand industries. Both the Aged Care and Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sectors are included among these in-demand industries and account for 90% of VICSEG New Futures’ training course delivery. Each of these industries are experiencing serious workforce shortages which are forecast to continue to grow over the next 20 years without swift intervention.
VICSEG New Futures is proudly one of Victoria’s largest suppliers of new graduates to the care sector (outside of the TAFE network), and we have a deep understanding of the needs and challenges affecting these workforces. At the time of writing, we are in the final stages of preparing a submission to this inquiry where we highlight the importance of community-based training organisations like ours to supporting CALD students (especially CALD women) to gain qualifications and find their place within the care sector.
