VICSEG New Futures is thrilled to launch a new initiative in 2024-2025 dedicated to fostering cultural diversity within the early childhood sector. Students in our Certificate III or Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care can now apply to participate in the Early Childhood Mentoring Program, an opportunity that opens doors to additional mentoring, support, and meaningful pathways into the workforce.
At VICSEG, we champion the belief that diverse cultural perspectives strengthen our community. We recognise the unique challenges faced by newly arrived migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in their access to services, study and gaining meaningful employment after settling in Victoria. Our commitment lies in addressing these barriers through increased representation in the early childhood sector and creating support services that are tailored to individual students to help them reach their employment goals. Through the program, we aim to empower 300 new early childhood education and care workers into purposeful careers, who can make a substantial impact in their communities for a brighter, more inclusive future.
We provide flexible training delivery methods, including virtual and in-person classes conducted by skilled trainers. Practical skills assessments take place regularly at our Early Learning Centres, ensuring a hands-on learning experience.
Our program emphasizes the significance of mentoring from experienced bicultural trainers. We understand the specific needs of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) students and are dedicated to providing the essential bicultural mentoring and support they require.
Participants in the Early Childhood Mentoring Program receive adapted support services to address unique study barriers, including:
